To help make the process easier to select the correct strike for your door the first time, follow the steps below.

STEP 1 - Look very carefully at the door in which the strike will be installed. Take note of following:

* Door material, construction and configuration
* Jam material and construction
* Pay close attention to the latchbolt type, dimensions and configuration as well as the plate and cavity inside the door jam that receives the latchbolt. Look for the brand name and model number of the lock set.

STEP 2 - CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE HES STRIKE COMPATIBILITY PAGE - This is a chart of locksets by brand name, model and latchbolt type. Find your lockset and jot down the recommended HES part number. If you don't see your brand or model listed, the match up the type of lockset that you have using the pictures. These are the models that will work the best. In many cases there are several models that will work. To see the specs/features of the various models, click here to go to the HES website. Then browse to the strike(s) recommended to select the one you want based on your requirements.

STEP 3 - CLICK HERE to download the "HES Complete Guide to Electric Stikes". This 12 page guide will answer all of your questions regarding how strikes work and includes installation tips and techniques. After reading this guide, you'll be an expert (almost!). If you are an experienced installer, skip this and go to step 4.
